Our COVID-19 Resource Centre is a place where you can find the latest information and updates from UA Local 740 relating to COVID-19 – all in one place.

Mental Health Phone Numbers
It is not uncommon to feel stress or anxiety during times of uncertainty such as with this pandemic. These new circumstances may lead some individuals into heightened symptoms of anxiety and depression. Ask for help if you feel overwhelmed or concerned that COVID-19 is affecting your ability to care for yourself or your family.
- Member Family Assistance Program (MFAP) – 1-866-448-9444. A confidential, no cost, support service provided through the RDTC/NLBTC Members Trust for UA Local 740 members and their immediate family.
- The Provincial CHANNAL Warm Line at 1-855-753-2560 from 9:00 am to 12:00 am. If you are feeling isolated and alone, please reach out and speak with a trained mental health peer supporter.
- Mental Health Crisis Line at 1-888-737-4668 available 24 hours a day or contact the Crisis Text service by texting 686868
- If it is an urgent or life-threatening situation, call 911.
Updates
Throughout the pandemic, we’ve been providing updates to our membership through email and then posting those updates to our website on the ‘News & Events’ page. We will continue to do this. Emailing is the fastest way for us to send you information and posting information to our website creates an archive that you can look back through (and it’s easier than sifting through your emails).
If you aren’t receiving our emails:
- Check your junk mail folder.
- Have you unsubscribed to our emails in the past? Is so, you won’t get any emails from us until you resubscribe.
- Have you changed your email address?
Either way, if you are a member and are not getting our emails, please contact us.

You can quickly scroll through and find information, without having to sift through your emails or click on multiple posts. It’s just a little easier and more convenient! We hope you find it useful.

We are open for in-person visits. A mask must be worn over your nose and mouth and it must not be removed or pulled down for any reason while inside the building.

Self-Serve With myManion
Training Centre Overview
The UA Training Centre is not open to the general public and members are not allowed to drop in. Only those who are scheduled for a class will be permitted to enter the building (provided their questionnaire is completed and they are approved for entry).
Students who are scheduled for safety training must follow our safety measures to ensure the well-being of everyone.
Since the Training Centre is closed to public and drop-ins are not permitted, you must use the following self-serve or virtual communication options:

Our safety measures will include (not limited to):
- Physical distancing
- Limited number of students
- Increased sanitizing and cleaning
- Plexiglass installed where necessary
- Signs and signage to ensure clear movement
- One way traffic flow where applicable
- No sharing of course materials / consumables
- Registration process (limiting students for registering)
- Completed COVID-19 questionnaire

Welding Shop Overview
The Welding Shop is not open to the general public and members are not allowed to drop in. Only those who are scheduled for testing will be permitted to enter the building on the day & time that they’ve been given.

Since the Welding Shop is closed to the public and drop-ins are not permitted, you must use the following self-serve or virtual communication options:

- Scroll down for information about upcoming testing dates.
- Members who apply for weld testing will be notified of their testing date and time (no drop-ins).
- Anyone who enters the weld testing facility may not roam to other parts of the building.
- We’ve reduced our welding booth capacity to allow a maximum of 6 welders testing per day.
- Members will be required to supply their own PPE including hard hat, welding shield, safety glasses, gloves, and respirator where possible. No sharing!
- Anyone entering the building must apply physical distancing rules, adhere to directional arrows, and regularly sanitize their hands (sanitizer will be provided).
- Welders must complete a COVID-19 questionnaire before testing.

Weld Testing
Due to COVID-19, walk-ins are not permitted.
Government testing usually takes place every second Tuesday.
CWB testing usually takes place once a month.
