We are reaching out to you with exciting news regarding a unique opportunity that has been curated specifically for our valued union members – the Skills Enhancement Training Program for Steamfitters/Pipefitters (Journeypersons or Apprentices).
In our ongoing commitment to empower and uplift our members, UA Local 740 Training team has designed a comprehensive program aimed at enhancing your skill set and providing you with valuable tools to excel in your career field as a Steamfitter/Pipefitter. We believe that continuous learning is not just a pathway to personal growth but also a means to strengthen the collective expertise of our union.
To stay competitive in today’s construction industry, diversifying our skills is a necessity. Steamfitters and Pipefitters are required to possess a diverse skill set, demonstrate accountability, and exhibit measurable performance in the current market landscape.
In response to this expected demand, UA Local 740 is offering Skills Enhancement Training(SET) for Steamfitters/Pipefitters. (Journeypersons or Apprentices)
Key features of the program include:
Tailored Curriculum: The program is crafted to address the specific needs of our union members, ensuring that the content is relevant and immediately applicable to your roles. The course duration is 40 hours and the topics that we will focus on are:
- Mechanical Drawings
- Pipe Fabrication
- Tube Bending
- Pressure Testing
The course assessment will include both theory and practical with a minimum passing grade of 70% and 40-hour attendance.
All members who complete the SET course will receive a UA Local 740 Atlantis Waterproof Gear Bag.
Some of the features include:
- Heavy-Duty Reinforced Waterproof Fabric
- Large Zippered Flap Opening to Main Compartment
- Large Inside Zip Mesh Pocket
- Fully Adjustable Padded Shoulder Straps Allows you to Carry the Bag as a Backpack
- Additional Handles on Each End
Industry-Recognized Certification: Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a certification from UA Local 740 Training Centre. Once the majority of our members undergo training, this will serve as a compelling advantage for attracting additional opportunities in the expanding job market.
Prerequisites: Registered Steamfitter/Pipefitter. This program is available to all Journeypersons and Apprentices in UA Local 740.
Further SET courses are currently being developed for High Pressure Welding and Plumbing.
